Marine Construction

Marine Construction: Seawalls, Docks, Lifts

Seawalls, docks, and boat lifts — coordinated with dredging when needed.

Palm Beach Dredging is a division of South Florida Seawall, a licensed marine contractor building and repairing seawalls, docks, and boat lifts across Palm Beach and Broward counties for over two decades. When your project needs both structural work and dredging, sequencing them together saves a full mobilization and often shortens permit timelines.

What's included

  • Concrete and vinyl seawall replacement and rehabilitation
  • Private residential docks — fixed and floating
  • Boat lifts sized from 4,500 lb residential to 40,000 lb commercial
  • Piling replacement, dock repair, and storm-damage restoration
  • Coordinated dredge-and-build sequencing so basins are the right depth for the new structure

How the project runs

  1. Step 1Scope alignment

We look at seawall condition, dock geometry, lift capacity, and basin depth together — because they're a system, not separate projects.

  2. Step 2Single permit package

One permit application covering structural work and dredging is faster than two sequential submittals.

  3. Step 3Phased build

Dredge first if the new structure needs it, then seawall or dock, then lift install. Or reverse — depends on tide, spoil route, and access.

  4. Step 4Warranty

Structural work carries a workmanship warranty; dredge work is verified by post-dredge survey.

FAQ

Do I need to replace my seawall before dredging?
Sometimes. If the seawall is failing and dredging alongside it would undermine the toe, we recommend structural repair first — or a coordinated sequence where we repair, then dredge without disturbing the new toe. We assess this on-site.
Can you build a dock and dredge under it in the same project?
Yes, and it's usually cheaper to do both together. One mobilization, one permit, one crew. The order depends on structural design and how tight the geometry is.
Are you licensed to do seawalls, docks, AND dredging?
Yes. South Florida Seawall (our parent) holds Florida marine contractor licenses covering structural marine construction, and Palm Beach Dredging carries the dredging authorization and equipment. Same crew, same insurance, same accountability.
